Cathedral Moon Trip!
On Friday 9th March, we visited Leicester Cathedral. We saw a 7m wide piece of art showing an exact copy of the moon! We also went into a planetarium which was very exciting. We then took part in activities with Dr. Suzie Imber who won the BBC2 show Astronauts: Do you have what it takes? We all had an amazing morning!
PE in Year 2
PE will be on Monday mornings and Thursday mornings.
Please ensure that indoor and outdoor PE kits are in school all the time. Trainers are more suitable for outdoor PE. Children will be outside (weather permitting) after the Easter Break so please ensure they have outdoor kit with them.
Sometimes PE days will need to change due to the weather or due to other school commitments.
What is happening in class this week?
We will be reading the Dinosaur Cove books with Miss Jones and carrying on with reports with Miss Farrar.
We will be testing children using the Common Exception Words and spelling they have learned in Letters and Sounds. We will not be sending words home to learn every week. We will let you know what we are learning each week. Children can continue to learn Common Exception Words at home.
Your child could use this look, cover, write check sheet to practise their spellings. If you would like a paper copy please ask in school.
Mathematics Mastery Vocabulary
Below is a list of terms used in Mathematics Mastery. Children will learn to use the terms in the glossary section.
We will be designing and making dinosaur theme parks. Start thinking about what you will need and how you might make it. Collect any useful resources and save them.
World Book Day!
On Thursday 1st March, it was World Book Day.
We dressed up as characters from our class book, Dinosaur Cove by Rex Stone. We all enjoyed taking part in team games then getting our hands sticky creating some wonderful collages. In the afternoon, we made bookmarks, designed new book covers and went on a scavenger hunt. It was great fun!
Afternoon tea with our mums
To celebrate Mothering Sunday, we invited our mums in for afternoon tea. We baked and decorated cakes and biscuits. Whilst our mums were drinking their tea, we sang some songs to them.
