Autumn Term 2015-2016
The Great Queniborough Show
Our Great Queniborough Show was held on Saturday 3rd October. Click on the scarecrow to see the fantastic time we had!
Harvest Festival and Cheese and Bread Lunch
We held our Harvest Festival in St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday 14th October. Children contributed dried foods and tins which were later taken to the Storehouse Foodbank in Melton Mowbray. When we got back to school we sat down to our annual Bread and Cheese lunch which raises money for our school in Ethiopia but also enables the children to demonstrate empathy with those children around the world who do not have a choice about what they eat every day. We raised £388 towards projects in our link school. We would especially like to thank Simply Education ( our supply agency) who provided the bread and cheese for us. We celebrated Children in Need by dressing up as our heroes (staff included) and the whole school went for a very windy ramble up Coppice Lane. Pudsey biscuits were served before we rambled back to school! We raised £140. We have also just sent 88 filled shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child and these gifts are now on their way to needy children in Eastern Europe.
The whole school walked up to the village War Memorial on Wednesday 11th November to hold our two minutes silence. The eldest and youngest children in the school laid a wreath to which everyone had contributed words of remembrance. Chris Moore from Syston Town Band played the Last Post and Rev. Lorna led the prayers.
We had five pieces of fitness equipment installed at the end of November. They are on an all weather surface so we can use them all the year round.
We held our annual Christingle Service in the school hall on Tuesday 1st December. Almost all children contributed to the celebration by bringing in their own Christingle. Foundation Stage children were presented with a Story Bible and Year 5 children with the Rainbow Good News Bible. This is part of an on-going programme organised by ‘Bibles4Children’ with the financial support of the members of St. Mary’s Church. It was a delight this year to welcome Mrs A to our service, who presented the Bibles to the children on behalf of St. Mary’s. We would like to thank the congregation of St. Mary’s Church for their ongoing financial support for this project.
Filbert Fox made a surprise visit to school with our Leicester City coaches on Tuesday 1st December.

Songs and Santa
We had a fantastic time at our Songs and Santa event on Friday 4th December and raised over £900!
Our Carol Service took place in St. Mary's Church on Thursday 17th December. Our Foundation Stage children performed their own very special nativity during this very special act of worship.

Christmas Jumper Day
We all wore our Christmas jumpers on the last day of term to raise money for Great Ormond Street Childrens' Hospital. One of our teaching staff has been there since July with her little boy and other families in school also visit GOSH. Thank you to everyone who helped us raise £278.01!
