This first half term, Year 3 will be learning all about the Stone Age. We will be using Stone Age Boy as our text and creating stories with historical settings. We will be investigating how to structure non-chronological reports and writing recounts about our Stone Age based trip to Bradgate Park. In grammar, we will be looking at how to use expanded noun phrases, paragraphs, fronted adverbials and conjunctions to make our writing cohesive. After half term, our topic theme is Rampaging Robots! Our texts will include Wild Robot and The Iron Man and we will be exploring how to write newspaper reports, explanation texts and diary entries. Topic work will also include learning about countries and cities of the UK
Our maths will cover place value, addition and subtraction, graphs, length and perimeter. For science, we will be learning all about rocks and soils then investigating forces and magnets. Our focus for the term in RE will be what Christians learn from the creation story and what it is like for someone to follow God. Throughout the term we will be linking our British Values into the curriculum focusing on mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. We refer to our Christian Values and personal development skills on a regular basis seeing where we can use these skills throughout each day in all we do.
